Terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Ohana.place ApS when you use ohana.place, the ʻOhana app and Hoku. Purchases are made through Paddle, our reseller. Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data, and our refund policy explains how to get your money back. Previous version: 1 August 2026.
1. Who we are
ʻOhana is our trading name. When these terms say “we” or “us”, they mean Ohana.place ApS. By creating an account or using ʻOhana you accept these terms. If you keep using ʻOhana after we change them (section 15), you accept the new version.
2. What ʻOhana is
ʻOhana is a travel planning service. You build a traveller profile (your Passport), save places to lists, and plan trips on a map with Hoku, our travel guide. A trip moves through four stages: Discover, Plan, Travel and Reflect. Places are chosen and kept up to date by local ambassadors and from open data.
Creating an account, building your Passport, talking to Hoku, saving places and shaping a trip are free. What you pay for is unlocking a trip's full day-by-day itinerary.
3. Your account
You need to be at least 13 to create an account. Accounts are personal: keep your sign-in email and any password or passkey to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You can delete your account at any time in your Passport, as described in our privacy policy.
4. Plans and prices
- One Trip, €49, paid once. Unlocks the full day-by-day itinerary of one trip. You can change and remix that trip as often as you like. It does not renew.
- Aloha Pass, €79 per year. Unlocks the full itinerary of every trip you plan while the pass is active. It is a subscription that renews every 12 months until you cancel it (section 6).
Prices are in euros and include VAT. The people you invite to plan a trip with you can use its unlocked itinerary at no extra cost. If we change the price of the Aloha Pass, the new price applies only from your next renewal, and we tell you before that renewal.
5. Paying: Paddle is our reseller
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
In practice this means you buy the One Trip plan and the Aloha Pass from Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd), which takes the payment, charges the VAT, sends your receipt and makes refunds. Paddle's buyer terms, shown at checkout, apply to the purchase itself, alongside these terms. You are welcome to write to us about any order as well, and we will help you or pass it on to Paddle. Your plan is unlocked as soon as Paddle confirms the payment.
6. Renewal and cancellation
The Aloha Pass renews automatically every 12 months, and Paddle charges the payment method you used, until you cancel. Before each renewal you get an email reminding you that the pass is about to renew. You can cancel at any time with Manage billing in your Passport, which opens Paddle's billing page, or by writing to us. When you cancel, the pass stays active until the end of the year you have paid for and is then not charged again. Cancelling on its own does not refund the current year; see the refund policy for that.
If the law of the country you live in lets you end a renewed subscription before its year is over (for example in Germany or the Netherlands), you can cancel a renewed pass at any time with one month's notice. Write to us, and we refund the months you have not used.
The One Trip plan is a single payment and has nothing to cancel.
7. Refunds and your right of withdrawal
You can have a full refund within 14 days of a payment, for any reason, on both plans. How to ask and what happens next is in our refund policy.
Under EU consumer law you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. A plan is digital content that we deliver straight away, so at checkout Paddle asks you to agree that delivery starts immediately and that you then lose that statutory right. Our own 14-day refund still applies, so you are never worse off for it. Your other rights as a consumer, for example if what you bought does not work as described, are not affected by these terms.
8. Hoku and AI suggestions
Hoku and some of our suggestions are generated by AI (Mistral AI, in the EU). AI can be wrong. Opening hours, prices, routes, entry rules and safety conditions change, so check anything your trip depends on with the place or an official source before you rely on it. You are responsible for your own travel decisions and for what you ask Hoku.
Do not use Hoku to produce anything unlawful, harmful or hateful, or to try to make it reveal other people's data or its own instructions. We may stop a conversation or limit Hoku for an account that does.
9. Places, ambassadors and bookings
We describe places carefully, but we do not run them. ʻOhana does not sell tickets, rooms or tours. If you book or buy something from a place, an operator or another website, that is an agreement between you and them, and their terms apply.
10. Fair use
Your itineraries and the places in them are yours to use for your own travel: view them, print them, share them with the people you travel with and copy them into your own notes.
You agree not to:
- use ʻOhana to break the law, or for fraud or spam;
- upload content that infringes someone else's rights;
- scrape, bulk download or use bots or scripts to extract ʻOhana's places, itineraries or ambassador recommendations, or republish or resell them;
- try to get into parts of ʻOhana you have no access to, probe or test its security, spread malware, or interfere with how it runs.
11. Your content
Your journal, photos, notes and lists stay yours. You give us permission to store them, show them to you and to the people you choose to share them with, and process them to run ʻOhana for you, for as long as they are in your account. If you believe content on ʻOhana infringes your rights, write to hello@ohana.place and we will look at it and remove it where it does.
12. Our intellectual property
The ʻOhana name, logo, the app, the website and their design and content belong to Ohana.place ApS or the people who licensed them to us (for example an ambassador's description or photo, or the open data credited on our credits page). Buying a plan gives you the right to use your itineraries as described in section 10; it does not transfer any other rights.
13. Suspending or closing an account
We may suspend or close an account after a serious or repeated breach of these terms, a payment that is reversed for fraud, or when it puts ʻOhana or other travellers at risk. Where we reasonably can, we warn you first and tell you why. If we close an account without a breach on your part, we refund the unused part of an active Aloha Pass.
14. Availability and liability
We work to keep ʻOhana running and correct, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as ʻOhana develops. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change affects what you have paid for, we email you at least 30 days before it takes effect; if you do not accept it, you can cancel and we refund the unused part of an active Aloha Pass.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by Danish law, and disputes go to the Danish courts. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of that country and can bring a claim there.
